Why the Samsung Galaxy XR can support 'almost all' Android apps
The Samsung Galaxy XR is designed to be a showcase for Android XR, Google's new AR / VR operating system, but unlike competing mixed reality headsets, Google says there will be few limits on the apps the Galaxy XR will actually be able to run. In fact, a Google spokesperson tells Engadget that "almost all Android apps will automatically be made available without any additional development effort."Obviously, Google and Samsung would love deliberately designed spatial experiences for their new hardware, but almost all existing Android apps, regardless if they were made for phones or not, will be considered "Android XR compatible mobile apps" once the headset launches.
