Stephen Colbert is writing a new Lord of the Rings movie

It’s been quite a while since we visited Middle-Earth on the big screen (anime prequels aside), but it looks like Lord of the Rings fans have plenty to look forward to in the coming years. We already knew that Andy Serkis’ The Hunt for Gollum was in the works — and by all accounts is progressing nicely — but another Rings-related film is in development too, and it’s being co-written by none other than Stephen Colbert.<br /> The announcement came from Peter Jackson himself, in a video posted by Warner Bros. to coincide with Tolkien Reading Day.
